Hi! I'm Rachel.
I'm a 35-year-old part time photographer located in Pleasant Unity, Pennsylvania. I've lived here for the past 12 years with my husband, Andy. We are the proud fur parents of 3 rescue kitties and one crazy corgi! I love living in a small town and using its unique locations for my natural light photography.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in 2011 from the University of Pittsburgh and spent the last 7 years working at our family owned machine shop, HardMetal Tooling, that is also in Pleasant Unity. My family is full of entrepreneurs - from my father-in-laws machine shop to my dad's automotive shop, even both of my brothers have businesses of their own. I am constantly inspired by their dedication and hard work!
My photography journey began with my late corgi, Donnie, who allowed me to photograph him as often as I wanted to. Losing him suddenly and unexpectedly to cancer at the age of 3 inspired me to focus my photography mainly on pets. I truly love capturing the relationship and love people have with their animals.
I love all forms of art - starting as a little girl coloring in Disney movie coloring books, I grew to find art class to become my sanctuary in school. Aside from taking and editing photographs, I love to draw and using acrylic paint as a creative outlet. I am always looking at the world as a potential art project, and would love for you to be part of that!
A quick guide to Rachel's favorites:
- shows: anime! I have been watching anime since I was about 10 years old and I love that it's more mainstream than ever. If you watch it too, please recommend me your favs! Some of mine are: Death Note, DBZ, One Punch Man and Bleach.
- color: purple
- food: I love a good local pizza joint. And yes, I love pineapple on pizza!
- snacks: popcorn, with all the butter!
- coffee: literally anything with caffeine, but a caramel macchiato is usually a go-to order for me.
- music: honestly I can appreciate any form of music. I can go from Phil Collins to Coheed and Cambria to Rob Zombie to TuPac to even the Spice Girls. Chances are very good we have something in common!
- movies: I am a huge Star Wars and Rocky Balboa fan. I even have a Star Wars tattoo on my leg and a cat named Rocky!
- books: I love to read! Thriller/suspense, fantasy and nonfiction are my favorite genres.
- restaurant: Dive Bar & Grille, any location! No family bias here, haha!
